Where Jacob Stands

Independent leadership. Responsible planning. A district prepared for the future.

My platform is built around one goal: ensuring the Fire Rescue District is prepared to protect our community today and for decades to come. That requires supporting our professional firefighters, planning responsibly for future needs, protecting taxpayers, and restoring confidence that every decision made by the commission is based on facts—not politics or personal agendas.

01

Support the Firefighters Who Protect Us

Our firefighters are the foundation of the district. They deserve competitive compensation, modern equipment, quality training, adequate staffing, and a commission that listens to the professionals doing the job every day. The commission's responsibility is to establish sound policy, approve responsible budgets, and provide the resources necessary for firefighters to perform their mission safely. Commissioners should govern effectively without attempting to manage emergency operations from the boardroom.

02

A Responsible Plan B

The district's funding referendum failed, but the underlying needs did not disappear. Simply returning to taxpayers with the same proposal is not a long-term strategy. I support developing a serious Plan B that clearly identifies the district's staffing, equipment, facility, and revenue needs. If additional funding is necessary, residents deserve to know exactly how much is needed, what it will fund, what alternatives were considered, and how the commission will measure results.

03

Prepare for Growth Around the District

The district's annual growth rate is approximately 1%, but it does not operate in isolation. The City of Bradenton and surrounding areas of unincorporated Manatee County continue to grow, bringing more development, traffic, residents, and regional demand for emergency services. Planning must account for growth both inside and around our boundaries. We should regularly evaluate call volume, response times, mutual-aid demands, staffing levels, and future development so the district can anticipate needs before they become emergencies.

04

Protect a Unique Coastal District

The Fire Rescue District serves a geographically diverse area extending from the north end of Anna Maria Island through Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach to the Longboat Pass Bridge, as well as Cortez, Tidy Island, Palma Sola, and portions of west and northwest Bradenton. Barrier-island access, bridges, seasonal residents, tourism, water-related emergencies, hurricanes, and coastal evacuation challenges make our district different from most others. Our planning, equipment, facilities, and emergency readiness must reflect those realities.

05

Long-Term Equipment and Facility Planning

Fire engines, protective equipment, stations, and specialized resources cannot be replaced responsibly through last-minute decisions. The district needs a transparent, long-range replacement schedule based on operational need, service life, safety, and available funding. Major purchases should be planned years in advance, competitively procured, and fully explained to the public. Taxpayers should understand what is being purchased, why it is needed, when it will enter service, and how it fits into the district's overall plan.

06

Fiscal Responsibility and Accountability

Supporting firefighters and respecting taxpayers are not competing priorities — responsible leadership requires doing both. I will support clear budgets, multi-year financial projections, responsible reserves, competitive purchasing, and regular public reporting on the district's progress. Residents should be able to see where their money is going and how each major expenditure improves public safety.

07

Independent and Transparent Leadership

The commission belongs to the public. Meetings, decisions, financial information, and long-range plans should be accessible and clearly communicated. I will ask serious questions, listen to firefighters and residents, and make decisions based on evidence and the long-term interests of the district. I am running to bring independent judgment, professional accountability, and forward-looking leadership to the Fire Rescue Commission.

Decisions Made Today Shape the District for Decades

The choices this commission makes now will determine whether the district is prepared five, ten, and twenty years from now. Jacob is running to make sure those decisions are made with integrity, foresight, and a genuine commitment to the people this district serves.
